Overview:
I am a Classical Musician majoring in Violin Performance at Boston University’s College of Fine Arts. I recently graduated from Baldwin Wallace University’s Conservatory of Music in May of 2018 with a Bachelor in Music Performance, an Emphasis in Chamber Music, and a Secondary in Viola and Voice. I was a member and founder of the Sun Quartet, a string quartet comprised of undergraduate performance majors at Baldwin Wallace Conservatory. With this chamber group, I had the opportunity to play quartets by composers ranging from Haydn to Bartok. My quartet performed two full recitals and one joint chamber music recital, and participated in competitions, galas, and other services. At school, I am a member of the Boston University Symphony Orchestra, led by Bramwell Tovey. I was Concertmaster and Principal Second of the Baldwin Wallace Symphony Orchestra, and also participated in the Baldwin Wallace Treble Choir, and the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra.
EXPERIENCE
I like to use the Suzuki method books for my beginner students. I think they give a good understanding of violin/viola playing, and they create a solid foundation that can easily be built on. Although I start with the Suzuki method, I don't necessarily subscribe to one method of teaching. I think it's important to use ideas from all styles of teaching to create well rounded students. After covering the fundamentals, I move on to repertoire that is educational as well as engaging to the student. I also am open to music requests; I think it's important for students to be excited about learning new things.

LESSON STYLE
I believe the most important thing when playing music is to be having fun. It's easy for students to lose their excitement for music when learning a new instrument. Practice is difficult, and if the student is not motivated or passionate enough, it doesn't happen. For this reason, I like to give my students a diverse selection of music to study. I think it's important to be playing pieces that not only help improve playing, also appeal to the student. Having a balanced repertoire of music is kind of like having a balanced diet. You need your vegetables, or your scales and etudes, but you also need the music that inspires you to learn more.
