University of North Texas
I started playing drums and piano at a young age, and continued my studies throughout my teens, and later at the University of North Texas. Following college I spent a few years playing in Minneapolis before moving to Los Angeles in 2002. I’ve performed with a long list of artists including R&B singer Indeya, Lige Curry, Vina Morales, Jay-R, Damian Brell, Mazarati and Phillipine Idol winner Erik Santos. The live performances have also led me to recording sessions at Capitol Records, Warner Brothers, Fox Studios, and Universal Publishing appearing on major motion picture soundtracks, TV shows as well as a number of albums.
I have been teaching private lessons for over twenty years on a number of instruments. I have had private students on piano, drums, guitar and bass guitar, and have also taught in various group settings. From rock band at a camp to drumlines at several high schools as well as group classes of like instruments. I have taught students as young as 4 to retired adults. I enjoy the variety of interests each of my students brings, and the opportunity to teach them skills that I believe will not only help them on their instruments but will improve their learning skills in general.
On all instruments I emphasize the importance of proper, relaxed technique from the start. I use method books along with music of various styles. I encourage students to bring me music they would like to learn, and make my recommendations based on their ability. For beginning drummers I use books I wrote for snare drum and drum set. For piano I supplement the lessons with the Alfred Basic Piano series for beginners, and a variety of books based on ability and interest for more advanced players.
I base my approach on each student's ability and personality to ensure the best possible communication and therefore the best progress. I keep the lessons fun but at the same time make sure each student leaves with something new every week. I let students guide the the direction they would like to take while also encouraging them to constantly improve their technique and knowledge, and explore music they might not have come across on their own. I believe in a well rounded approach with a focus on music they enjoy the most.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
OkAre you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
