2015 - Recipient of Berklee Achievement Scholarship
2016 - Certified Music Instructor by Berklee College of Music
I am a passionate and motivated instructor who loves working with students and sharing my love for music. In 2017, I graduated from Berklee College of Music where I studied film scoring. I have had the opportunity to perform with renowned artists of the industry including Susana Baca, Alex Acuña, Ramon Stagnaro, Oscar Stagnaro, Thomas Chase and Arturo Sandoval. I consider myself a professional in the areas of composition, performance and education and I am always looking for the best musical path for my students.
My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching piano private lessons at the age of 18 in Peru. After that, I got accepted into Berklee College of Music, where I kept giving private lessons and worked on campus giving ear training, harmony, music theory, voice, piano, composition and counterpoint lessons. After graduation, I have continue my life as a teacher working with several companies and on my own, giving lessons to all kind of people from different cultures and ages.
For beginning students who are children, I typically start with the Faber or Clark book. These books contain a well organized method which goes through the fundamentals of music and challenges the student gradually. Fore more advanced students, I use the Hannon Virtuoso Pianist book which is really good for technique as well as the Ana MAgdalena Bach book which contains a series of beginner classical pieces that enhance the reading and coordination of the student. Apart from this, I always work with a repertoire specially designed for each student according to their goals and needs.
Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passions for music! Therefore, it is important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. I let my students find themselves in music and question themselves what they want to achieve with music. Once a path and an objective is stablished, everything else just moves by its own.
Jorge is a great teacher. He encourages you to practice and improve. His passion for music and piano is contagious and he helps connect the student to the emotion behind the sheet music and black and white keys.
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
Are you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
