Bachelors of Vocal Music Education
I graduated in 2005 from Harding University with a Bachelors Degree in Vocal Music Education.
After graduation, I taught elementary music at Stafford Elementary for 6 years.
I sang with the Houston Symphony Chorus during the 2007, 2008, and 2009 seasons and sang with the Moores School of Music Choral Artists for a season.
In 2011, I left the public school to begin my own teaching studio.
My students have made the all region choir, have received level I ratings at solo and ensemble and have even been accepted at the Houston High School for Performing and Visual Arts.
I teach voice using a mixture of classical art and musical theater literature.
I also work in the public schools helping to prepare students for the Texas All State, Junior High All Region and the UIL Solo and Ensemble Events.
If I am teaching a longer lesson, I will also work on sight singing and musical theory concepts.
I believe that music should be both fun and challenging. I gear each lesson toward the current needs of each student and work with their particular set of strengths and weaknesses. I encourage students to acheive their best and ever so slowly raise the bar so they are always being challenged. When my students begin to struggle with a concept, we back up and master the concept before advancing. I try to both encourage my students and inspire them to want to acheive more.
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
Are you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
