BM, University of Michigan, Piano Performance
I am a professional pianist and violinist from the San Francisco Bay Area, and a passionate and creative instructor who enjoys sharing her love of music with the rest of the world. Performing and studying all over the world has been the greatest eye-opening experience, and I hope to share that with you as a student! In 2017, I graduated from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor with a Bachelor's Degree in Music, specifically piano performance. Currently, I work as a band instructor in various elementary schools; I also teach private piano and violin lessons in my home studio.
Throughout my life, I have experienced music in many different settings - these include solo performances, collaborative music, piano accompaniment, music theory, recording/performing arts technology, dance, composition and film/TV/video scoring. Since a young age I have sung and played various instruments in many orchestral & choral groups, which has given me so many timeless and valuable memories that I would love to share with you! My personal passions for teaching come from the happiness it brings to others when they make music, and my goal is to guide you through the path that can ultimately lead you to having the same, even better experiences.
For beginning students, I typically start out with Alfred's Piano Library, Faber's Piano Adventures, and the traditional collection of Suzuki books to lay a foundation for children to begin learning how their instrument works. As they progress through these books and have a grasp of the fundamentals, I begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance, and gradually increase the difficulty of technique and musical theory concepts in between. For older students, they may already have pieces they are interested in learning, and I usually guide them with a combination of those chosen songs and whatever other materials coincide with their levels.
There is nothing more rewarding than seeing students' passion and love for music! My teaching style reflects the interests and goals that each child has; every one progresses at his or her own pace, and I nurture this by setting realistic goals for them to accomplish in each lesson. I like to give them a hands-on experience with technique and performance, and believe that making practicing a fun activity is one of the keys to fueling a student's desire to learn more in music! By finding out what inspires someone, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their individual interests and needs.
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
Are you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
