Overview:
I'm a passionate and motivated instructor who loves working with students and sharing my love of music. I obtained my Bachelor Degree in drums and classical percussion from the Amsterdam Conservatory in 2012 and followed up with a Master's Degree in 2014 focusing in drums and contemporary percussion from the  Manhattan School of Music. I have since then dedicated my time to teaching and freelancing in New York as a percussionist and a drummer. In 2014 I formed the Metamorphosis Chamber Orchestra, a classical ensemble of thirty musicians from around the city which has been and is involved in productions ranging from opera to Broadway shows.
EXPERIENCE
My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lessons part time 10 years ago, and have been consistently teaching students in my home studio for the last 4 years. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points i like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. I 've also found that a combination of classical and modern music can go a long way in helping students enjoy the drums and motivate them to practice and continue to learn. If a student isn't having fun in their lessons, then I'm not doing my job! My students are encouraged to enter competitions and recitals, as well as work on composing their own original material, so they can feel good about their accomplishments and stay motivated to learn. I'm always looking to bring on new students of all ages!
METHODS USED
I will appropriately choose the right books and method that fits for you depending on your level and the style of music you like. Each lesson, I will cover all aspects necessary in learning how to master the instrument and learn how to read music as well as being able to play with others. I like to start with rudiments on a practice pad. I use the Percussive Arts Society 40 snare drum rudiments which are the basics for everything we do on a drum set. We can then apply theses rudiments to the drum kit. A great book to start is George Lawrence Stone's Stick Control book. For Beginners, I usually start with Alfred's Beginning Drumset Method, The Progressive steps to Syncopation for the Modern Drummer by Ted Reed. Other book used in the lessons are John Riley's book ''The Art of Bop Drumming'', Brian Fullen's Jazz Standards for Drumset, Peter Erskine's ''Essential Drum Fills and for rock ''Groove Essentials'' by Tommy Igoe.
LESSON STYLE
Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by settling realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. I try to cover the following aspects in every lesson: - Warming up - Technique - Learning new material - Sight-reading - Playing along - Improvising

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
