Overview:

Hello My name is Evan J. I have been playing, and studying music for 15 years. I enjoy teaching and sharing the knowledge of music with others. I am currently teaching 20 individual students a week. My main goal is to share the amazing art of music, by showing all my students how to learn and study great bands,. I am advanced in music theory, ear training, right hand and left hand techniques, cover songs, song writing, and much more. All of my training was done at Musicians Institute in Hollywood. I am open to teaching all ages and styles. I study rock the most, but I can play, and teach any kind of music. I focus on custumizing lessons for each student. I am here to help students achieve all the goals they have in music, and play the songs they have always dreamed of playing. Contact me for more details. Thank You

EXPERIENCE

I have been a private bass and guitar music instructor for 12 years, currently teaching 20 students in home, in studio, online and group lessons. I am also composing and recording my own albums, and working with multiple up and coming artists. (Gigs) The House of Blues The Key Club The Thousand Oaks Civic Auditorium The Ventura Theater The Roxy The Viper Room The Canyon Club The Whiskey The Hard Rock Cafe The Victorian (more on request) Private bass and guitar music instructor: 12 years. teaching 20 students a week. METHODS USED

My methods are versatile. I always aim my lesson goals toward the student. Every student is unique, and they all want to learn something different. If someone has never played music before, I will start them off with basic scales and chords. If they have played before, I will listen to them play for me first so I know where they stand as a musician. I will customize each lesson for each individual. If a student wants to learn Metallica, I will start them off with heavy power chords and distortion effects followed by some lead soloing techniques and scales. If a student wants Bob Marley, I will teach them open chords and bar chords followed by up beat rhythms to get them warmed up on that style of music. It all comes down to the genre the student wants to learn. After each student learns the techniques and style of playing well enough, I have a goal for every body to play to the recording by the band that student loves the most. Playing to the album is the best way to turn a beginning student in to a professional.

LESSON STYLE

I teach all styles of music. My main focuses are rock, metal, funk, jazz, classical, blues and country. If a student has a specific style of music they would like to do, I teach certain techniques and music theory that will make that type of music easy to learn for them. Every style of music has a formula or code that makes it sound distinct. All the chords, scales, techniques, and rhythms are here to help build that style of music. So after I find out what style of music my student would like to learn, I first teach them a formula for that genre, then I teach them well known songs that fall into that style.
