I am a professional musical theater and drama actress and a singer. I also have vast experience working in the puppet theater, which requires a big work with your voice. I graduated my first theater school as an actress in my home country, Georgia, and immediately was accepted to the theater troupe. It was a Russian speaking drama and musical theater for kids and adult teens. I played in about 10 musical and drama shows during nine years, sang in several concerts. In Moscow I was accepted in two theaters. Both were making musical shows, one of them was a touring theater, I played in there big musical productions for 5 years, we traveled all over the Europe. Another theater offered me a stage manager job and this made me interested to try myself in the directing theater field. A little later on, when I graduated directing theater course, I started making my own puppet musical shows, where i played all the parts - sang and talked to all the characters in the show. Along with that I was singing solo concerts once in a while, mostly using a musical theater repertoire. Currently I am singing in a band in Philadelphia - all original material, auditioning for Broadway shows and teaching beautiful students
I started teaching back in 2015. I began with teaching small groups of kids and teens ages 4 to 18 in the regional art center in Moscow, Russia. I had singing and puppeteering groups. My students had recitals on the art center stage, went to singing contests and did some recordings. Soon after starting teaching groups I got private students. I moved to US in 2017. Here I continued teaching singing in private. Currently I am accepting private students, teaching an acting class in the local art center in Philly along with small singing groups.
I am a vocal teacher, that means I am focusing on vocal technique more, but I also can perform vocal coaching when needed. These two are different roles. A vocal teacher works with technical aspect of singing - muscles, sound production, breathing, control of your sound etc. Your vocal coach works with intonation, style, musical and acting part of your singing. Depending on your request we'll focus on one or another or blend them. I am not using any particular method for teaching singing. However, I am familiar with many. I use a personal approach to every student. On my lessons I design the exercises for each student individually depending on student needs and requests. For my younger students I would use more playful way to teach, even though sometimes I would use it even for adults. In other words, I try to follow the personal requests and preferences. My goal is to keep the lesson interesting and fun and give my students as many discoveries as I can.
I believe that everyone can sing! It's just a matter of effort, practice and time. Also I believe that singing is a great pleasure, not to mention it is an art. Maybe I could say that my teaching style is to let my students find their personality, their own voice, in a broadest definition. I want to show them how they can express themselves through the vocal technique, to show them how they can get to know themselves through the vocal technique. Maybe I can say, that my teaching style is a journey that I am taking my student.
