I am currently going to University of Hartford-Hartt School of Music in the Doctorate of Musical Arts program. When if come to music, I have a passion for performing and scholarly writing. Aside from collegate performances, I have performed with summer festivals such as the Aspen Music Festival and School and the Philadelphia International Music Festival.
I began teaching when I was in undergrad. I taught during the summers at my high school alma mater. Coming from a financially limited, urban school district, the students inspired me to teach because they were inspired by the music alone. Even with the lack of musical funding and instruments these students had real inquiry for the love of music.
Every student has their own unique way of learning. Therefore, every musician has their own unique way of learning and interpreting music. As a teach and performer I like to harness a student's unique learning style and put it into a musical idea that they can relate to and enjoy.
My teaching style is rooted in fundamental techniques. Once a student has control over these fundamentals of playing then they can fully accentuate their own musical ideas. The end goal is to teach a student to be fluent in trombone mechanics that is becomes second nature. Once this is achieve, musical performance becomes entertainment and enjoyment.
