ABOUT
Degrees / Training / Special Info:
Master Degree: Florida International University, Bachelor Degree: Inter-American University
Awards:

Inter-American University Dean's List

Overview:

I've been a music teacher for the last 19 years. Working for public and private schools in the USA. Teaching how to play recorder, guitar, drums, and piano to students from the age of 5 thru 18. I also had played drums with artists and bands from different styles like rock, Latin jazz, salsa, etc. My educational background is a Master in Music Business and a BA in Music Performance with major in drums. I have more than 10 years of experience with the Music Business and Corporate events. Working with the business side of the music industry like Records labels, music publishing, concerts, recording sessions, etc. But most of all I love what I do which is teaching how to play DRUMS. There's nothing more rewarding than seeing my students that came knowing nothing performing a song.

EXPERIENCE

I started playing back in 1994. Playing with local musicians and bands. I quickly jumped to perform on TV and finally, I enrolled in College. In 2001 I started to teach music in Public schools where I learned my guitar skills and polish my arrangements skills as well. In 2004 I enrolled in college for my Master and along with this, I continued teaching locally. My knowledge with the Music business gave me the opportunity to work with the production side of the arts like Audio, lighting, staging, etc and also with the managing side of the industry like record labels and Awards(Billboard, Premio, etc)

METHODS USED

I breakdown my classes as: Technique (rudiments, rolls, etc); Reading (how to read the musical notes), rhythms (rock, funk, 6/8, etc) and Songs (play along with songs to develop a good sense of timing) I use some standards books like Stick Control, Syncopation, Modern reading text, Odd times, Realistic Rock, Master with the greats, New breed, Latin soloing for drumset, inner clock, Art of bop drumming and many more. For piano students, I use the fast track method, scales books and James Bastien books For bass, I use the Fast track method

LESSON STYLE

I teach my students with a love of love, patience, and admiration for their effort. I understand that all of us learn in different ways and me as an educator need to identify how to approach each student with a unique methodology. I set with my students the goals along with a realistic pace for learning including practice times and listening times. I love to see the results and I'm sure that all my students will feel realized after 4 weeks of class. But most of all, I do my best to inspire them and keep them motivated withing this beautiful journey of becoming a musician.
