Musicians Institute- Piano Performance
Keyboard player in National Touring Band Tripp 'N Dixie (opened for Kid Rock, Dierks Bentley, etc)
2008 MCBA State Champion (center snare)
I am an experienced, and passionate keyboardists and love sharing my skills and love for music with my students. I graduated from Musician's Institute in Los Angeles, CA in 2013 with a degree in Piano Performance and have since traveled around the country playing for keyboards for many different types of artists. I have recently settled down in Michigan where I live with my girlfriend and my Pig! I also continue to play throughout the country and Detroit in my band, Tripp 'N Dixie. You can see us as the house band at Kid Rock's Made in Detroit Bar and Grill inside of the Little Caesars Arena before a Red Wings Game.
My Teaching experience begins during high school, where I often helped vocalists and instrumentalists with solo and ensemble material for scholastic festival performances. I continued to teach lessons through college in the Los Angeles area to pay for school and continue to develop as a musician. I prefer a slightly different method of teaching that isn't your typical classical regimen. I am getting back in to teaching after a temporary hiatus and I am looking forward to bringing my knowledge and experience to students of all levels.
For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults and children, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. This is how I learned to play and I believe it is the best style of learning!
Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! I believe the arts, and particularly music is so important in the development of one's self. Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs.
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
Are you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
