Overview:

I am a dedicated educator who loves working with music students of all ages. I graduated from Indiana University with a degree in jazz studies. While there, I participated in marhcing band for 4 years, percussion ensemble, latin ensemble, big band, and many other projects. I've toured on cruise ships playing percussion and have been in several working bands of the years since college.

EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching privately and in group settings for 9 years. In my private studio, I have maintained around 25 students. In group settings, I have taught many drumlines, percussion ensembles, and middle school percussion classes.  I love to assist students in their desire to explore music and they physical skills associated with it. It is my desire to walk with students as they take the necessary steps to become more familiar with an instrument and music in general.

METHODS USED

For beginning students, I ususaly start with the first level of method books unless they have other music instrument experience that is relevant. Fundamentals will be introdruced in an appropriate order while simultaniously adding in bit by bit songs and etudes that will push the student to realize all the techniques they are learning.

LESSON STYLE

I am a friendly teacher who loves to see students have fun. I often like to perform or play right alongside the student with either the same instrument or a complementary one (eg drums/guitar or drums/bass et al.). Finding out what inspires the student is key in developing a lasting connection to music. Whether they know what inspires them or not, I will work to educe it from them.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
