Overview:
I have been an active musician since the age of 5, when I began piano lessons. During my public school years, I played the euphonium and the trombone in the school's many instrumental programs, as well as sang in multiple choirs. In 2014 I graduated from Westminster Choir College with a Bachelors of Music in Music Education. During my time at Westminster, I have performed with many major orchestras and conductors, including the Philadelphia Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic, the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra, the Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Simon Bolivar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela. I appear on the GRAMMY Nominated Recording Annelies: The Anne Frank Oratorio, released in 2013 under the NAXOS label.
EXPERIENCE
My private lesson experience dates back to after I graduated high school, where I would give lessons and sectionals to students in the town marching band. While I was in college, I continued to give private lessons to college students taking instrumental methods classes. These students were mostly singers who needed to learn wind instruments as part of the music education curriculum. I also taught private brass lessons at the Cambridge School, a private school for students with language disabilities. My goal as a private lesson instructor is to facilitate music making and let the students make the music personable and meaningful to them. 
METHODS USED
I like to begin earlier students with a strong foundation of musicianship by connecting core musical concepts to the music that they are exposed to every day. For older students and adults, I will align my teaching to their needs and strive to make every lesson worthwhile and meaningful for their musical development. My lesson materials vary on the specific needs of the student. I strongly believe that listening is a huge component to developing musicianship, so I will often assign listening assignments to students to strengthen their ear. 
LESSON STYLE
My goal as a music instructor is to support my students and their creativity in such a way that allows for true expression of emotion through music. I want to set earlier students up for success in their school music programs. I try to create a learning environment that gives students the motivation to set weekly goals for each lesson and practice session.
