I'm an energetic and patient piano and voice instructor who has general teaching experience, studio experience, and performing experience. I pride my teaching on adapting quickly to each type of learning and continue to find ways to creatively engage students in lessons and encourage growth and learning, My undergraduate degree is in Music Education and My Masters in Music is in Vocal Performance and Opera. I'm currently in my final year of doctoral studies in education and work as a Teaching Artist with the Metropolitan Opera Guild, serving special needs students in State Island. I've had the opportunity to perform with the Institute for Young Dramatic Voices for three years as well as the Miami Music Festival and several local symphonies in Texas. New to the city from Houston, I'm seeking to grow my voice and piano studio here and continuing performing and seeking engagements in the opera industry.
I took piano lessons for 15 years as a child and began voice lessons in 7th grade and still take them to this day. I began teaching piano and voice lessons in my undergrad and have taught them for over ten years. I continued teaching privately while employed as a full time teacher and have taught students ranging from age 3-85. I've loved teaching ever since I started and always hope to be a teacher. I believe you're never to old to learn how to play piano or sing and you're never too young to start!
I create my own custom lesson plans and materials based on my assessment of the student and his/her needs. Different learners thrive with varied instruction and materials. The materials I select are well-known and research-based, my go-to being the Alfred series. However, I begin with a student assessment to determine the level of each of my students and type of learner he or she is before selecting the course material. Lessons will be engaging and fun for every student because that's when learning occurs at it's finest!
I approach teaching every student differently and by establishing a personal connection with each student and further letting the student demonstrate how he or she connects to music and why. This way, I am able to assist my students in strengthening his or her connection to music through my learned academic abilities and experiences. Students set goals with my guidance and meet them at their own pace. Students reach and exceed goals with my guidance and become self-motivated to reach their next set of goals.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
OkAre you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
