Bachelor Degree: Cologne University of Music and Dance, Master Degree: Eastman School of Music
Eastman School of Music Graduate award
I am a Taiwanese soloist, chamber musician and a passionate, enthusiastic teacher. I received my bachelor of music degree at Cologne University of Music and Dance in Cologne/Wuppertal, Germany where I studied with Uwe-Martin Haiberg(2011-12)and Albrecht Winter(2012-16). I received my Master degree at Eastman School of Music(2018-2020), where I studied with Federico Agostini, Robin Scott and Itamar Zorman. At the Cologne University of Music and Dance, I've attended various kinds of orchestral and chamber music performances. I collaborated with several conductors such as Werner Dickel and Herbert Görtz in the orchestras of Cologne University of Music and Dance. I also served as the section leader of second violin for the salon orchestra led by Prof. Albrecht Winter, Baroque orchestra run by Prof. Manfredo Sebastian Zimmerman and Prof. Alexander Puliaev. At Eastman School of Music, I've served served as concert master for Eastman Repertory Singers, Bach Cantata Projects and OSSIA new music ensembles.
I've studied with teachers from many different countries( USA, Germany, Italy, Taiwan, Israel) and I began teaching private lessons part time 6 years ago. My musical knowledge, interpretation, taste and teaching method were cultivated by multicultural background and training. This is my strength to be a good teacher because I am capable of embracing and helping all kinds of students . Helping my students to discover their interest in not only the violin but also music(even art) is always a fulfilling things to do and I always learn from teaching. Great communication is always the key for successful teacher-student relationship. There is no right or wrong teaching method. Instead, finding the one that is suitable for every single student is the thing that I've been doing for my past students and I will keep doing to my future students.
I prefer to use various kinds of violin teaching methods such Suzuki, Shinozaki and then we can get into some etudes(Kreuzter, Sevcik). Of course, practicing scale and arpeggio is necessary. I will use Galamian and even Hefeitz's scale book. Sounds...boring right? No worries. I will give you REAL music from time to time based on what you've learnt. Most importantly, all the things that I plan for you is to help you find the real interest in violin and music(even art) and the key is to find the methods that is right for you.
Getting to know the student's personality is always the very first crucial thing to do. I have a very special talent of understanding and communicating with people. Apart from the musical and technical stuff on violin, helping the student be their own teacher while I am not around is much more important. Moreover, I'd like to spend time with students with different kinds of arts to help them discover more interest and insight in music. As I mentioned above, great communication between the teacher and the student is extremely important because that is the only way to find the right way to help every single student.
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
Are you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
