I am a full time public school music teacher. I have bee teaching private lessons for over 20 years. In addition to my K-12 NJ Music Teaching Certification, I also have a Teacher of Students With Disabilities Certification, as well as a K-6 Teaching Certification. I offer lessons on many instruments an can teach many styles. I have been a member of many different kinds of ensembles. I regularly perform with a rock band, as well as a parade band and a wind ensemble. I currently instruct 2 high school drum lines as well.
As of 2019, I have been working in the public school system teaching music for 6 years. I have been teaching private music lessons for over 20 years on multiple instruments. I welcome students old and young, beginner and advanced on many styles and instruments. My bachelors degree is in Music Education, and my Masters is in Music Performance. The key, like anything, to getting better is practice. I'm happy to work with you during lesson time, but your time alone practicing is really what's going to ensure you progress from week to week.
I have method books that I am comfortable teaching out of for different instruments at different levels and styles. They are super helpful with building your technique and reading skills slowly and methodically. Students are welcome to bring in songs they would like to learn or need to learn for ensembles they are in. Every week I make students a practice log. That helps keep them in order. They know what to practice, and they have room to fill in how long they practiced for on what day. It is a very clear way of going about studying music.
I am a very methodical teacher. After your instrument is set up and in tune, I go right to your practice log and we pick up where we left off. I am not going to sugar coat; if you need another week's practice on the same song or exercise at the same tempo, I am going to tell you so. With that said, I am also going to praise you when I hear and see progress. I also like to encourage my students to get out and perform their pieces they have worked out with me, be it at a recital or an open mic. Performing for people is key!
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
Are you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
