I am a passionate teacher and cellist who is extremely motivated to adapting my lesson plans to fit your individual needs. I love to teach people who want to learn the instrument whether you're just beginning or have experience with cello. I've performed and taught all over the world...Berlin, Czech Republic, NYC, Boston, La, etc. I enjoy all areas of classical music. Through my trio and quartet, I've been able to experience the wonder of chamber music. Playing in orchestras all over the country and recording music for various bands has been inspiring and I'd love to share my love for the instrument with you!
I began teaching seven years ago and it has led me to teach in four different studios in addition to my own private studio. I currently teach at two different studios and am a cello coach at YOLA (youth orchestra of LA in affiliation with LA Phil). Cello is an incredible instrument that attracts unique people of all ages. I've taught from ages 6-55 and used a variety of methods depending on the experience level of the student.
If you are familiar with method books... I use a combination of Mueller Rush, Suzuki, All for Strings, Elemental Strings, Mooney Thumb position and Position Pieces in the first (1-2) years. During this exploration of technique, we will learn about different cellists, duets, theory, etc. Then, onto fun pieces such as Danse Rustique and Tarantella. After which etudes such as Popper and Duport and beginner concertos may be introduced. If you are an advanced student, we will dive into Piatti, Popper, Sevcik, sonatas, concerti, etc. The cello world is a vast one, but my goal as a teacher is to have you love and enjoy every moment of playing as much as possible.
I think discovering exactly what a student knows in the first lesson is extremely important. This way, we can adjust the teaching plan or fill in gaps that have been missed in technique. It is incredibly important to me that my students listen to recordings every week. Not only is it fun, but it widens our view and helps us create goals.
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
Are you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
