Overview:

I am a teacher who loves to share my love of music and also have a passion in education that motivates with young artists today. In terms of musicianship, teaching affords me to see the whole picture and how each student develops with their own sound and color. Recently this past May 2021, I graduated from New York University with an Artist Diploma in Clarinet Performance, and in addition, I earned my Bachelor of Music (May 2018) and Master of Music Degrees in Clarinet Performance (May 2020) at the Peabody Conservatory of Music. A passionate of solo, orchestral, and chamber music, I had a great privilege to perform at one of the world's leading venues, such as Carnegie Hall, Musikverein in Vienna, Austria, Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center (New York City), and the DiMenna Center for Classical Music in New York City. Besides teaching and performing, I also have a passion for composing my own music. I believe that music is an important cure in our lives today.

EXPERIENCE

My teaching experience is where I began having my own private teaching studio and I always encourage my students to be open-minded and curious at all times. I believe that each individual learns differently and my job as a teacher is to guide students toward great playing and music making with their own voice. I also encourage my students to focus on what they need to improve and build upon what they do well and make it better, and listen to a lot of great music recordings. My students had the opportunity to perform their own recitals and win competitions. The important goal for my students is to create a safe space for them to experience what it feels like to play music while having fun. Lastly, my belief is that each player has their own talent to make their artistry shine.

METHODS USED

For the beginners, I begin to teach with "Rubank Elementary Method Book for Clarinet", "Clarinet for Beginners" by Avrahm Galper (Revised Edition), "Breeze-Easy Method for Clarinet, Bk 1" by Valentine Anzalone, and "So You Want To Play the Clarinet Method Book" by Paula Corley. For the intermediate and advanced students, I encouraged them to use method books of "Velocity Studies (Intermediate and Advanced) for Clarinet" by Kalmen Opperman, "Celebrated Method for the Clarinet" by Klose (Revised by Simeon Bellison & edited by Stanley Drucker & Naomi Drucker), "Complete Method, Op. 63 (3rd Division)" by C. Baermann, and "Method for Clarinet, Part 1" by H. Lazarus (revised by Simeon Bellison). In addition, I have my own methods that applies to their consistent breathing and air. Once students have progressed with any of these books, I will start to introduce them to etudes, solos, chamber music, and / or orchestral literature that applies to auditions, competitions, and performances.

LESSON STYLE

It is important to note that each student has a different voice. I teach each student very differently because of their different sound and colors. In addition, I believe it is important for each student to set goals and progress at their own pace. My teaching style would be to use their tools by matching their qualities using their own sound and color, and personality, so in that way, students will recognize achievements and motivate themselves to learn more and make beautiful art to their audience.
