ABOUT
Degrees / Training / Special Info:

Rowan University – Music Education Major Camden County College – Associates Degree in Music

Awards:

Camden County College:

Graduated with Honors and received Scholarship for Music Achievement

Overview:

I graduated from Camden County College with a degree in Music and attending Rowan University for three years studying Music. I currently perform with a number of bands and occasionally travel with bands. I have experience playing at several venues in Philadelphia including the Electric Factory, TLA, and World Cafe.

EXPERIENCE

I have taught guitar and saxophone for about seven years, both privately and for retailers. I have taught students ranging in age from 7 to 60, and from beginners to experienced musicians wanting to learn a new instrument. I enjoy watching my students grow and also myself learning a few things along the way.

METHODS USED

I try to teach towards the students wants/needs. Depending on what the student is in need of I will gear my lesson towards them individually, if a student has sloppy technique then we will work on technique. If they are a casual player I can teach them how to pay certain songs or styles of music, eventually being able to do so on their own. Ultimately my goal is to teach my students to be able to teach themselves, especially learning how to play by ear rather than having to use music notes. However certain instruments such as the saxophone its imperative to learn how to read music notes. I generally use half the lesson for basic techniques such as scales, cords for guitars, long tones for horn. And then the second half spent on book work or performing music.

LESSON STYLE

I enjoy teaching everyone differently and my lessons are custom made for each student. They're geared towards the student's desire and reasons for playing music. I love helping students solve their problems and I have a great deal of patience to help them work things out and ensure they are progressing. I also enjoy teaching more advanced material and watching student's learn.
