Overview:
I am a motivated flutist looking to meet new students to share my passion for music and flute playing! My studies took me from Argentina to Europe where I obtained two Master degrees at the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste, (Zurich University of the Arts), in Switzerland. Music has given me the chance to study with some of the world most renowned professionals, to meet wonderful people from many different cultures and to perform with highly talented musicians from around the globe in beautiful venues such as the Isaac Stern Auditorium at Carnegie Hall, in New York.
EXPERIENCE
I started teaching in 2009 while in college and since then I have been teaching students of different ages, levels and from many countries! I studied Flute Pedagogy in Switzerland, where I acquired diverse tools and methods that enabled me to better understand the learning process, providing the student with a comprehensive vision of the Flute and of the musical background such as stylistic and composer details. From my experience as student and teacher, flute playing is about exploring new ways of communication and expression. This is why I consider it as important to show my students that the flute can be a multifaceted instrument through different music styles: from the Classical Flute repertoire, to diverse rythms from Latin-American countries such as Venezuelan Joropos, Brazilian choros or a nostalgic tango.
METHODS USED
Choosing a Flute Method depends on the level and interest of the student. I like including tone games as part of my lessons, improvisation rudiments, ear training, tuning, playing together, and asking questions to enable a constructive experience. For a first lesson, I recommend the student to prepare a piece to play and from there we design a program together. For beginners, I provide the material for the first lesson, depending on the age of the student after which we choose a book together to better fit the interests and needs. I am able to teach in English, Spanish and German.
LESSON STYLE
I believe that organization is key to provide an effective learning experience. Finding out what inspires my students and providing them with new sources of inspirations helps me prepare better for the lessons and keeps their motivation alive. Having realistic goals and clear ideas on how to practice makes the progress much more rewarding!
