Bachelor Degree: Azusa Pacific University
I began studying music at a very young age and discovered a passion for flute, voice, and piano. My main instrument is flute and I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Performance from Azusa Pacific University in 2019. I was so inspired by my teachers and mentors that I became interested in teaching as well, which led me to discover a deep love for teaching music to kids. I currently enjoy gigging, teaching private flute and piano lessons, and also leading music and movement classes for babies and toddlers.
I began teaching off and on while still in college, but began teaching full time as soon as I graduated. I currently teach private lessons on flute and piano, as well as music and movement classes for babies and toddlers. My private students range from as young as 3 years old to 76 years old. I enjoy working with all ages, but am especially passionate about the younger students. I love making each lesson a fun, high energy, and interactive experience that keeps them excited about learning. I also make sure to incorporate the songs/genres each student enjoys to keep them engaged and motivated!
For young children (ages 4-6) I use a combination of Piano Adventures "My First Piano" books and my own curriculum I've created. For children 7-9, I will start them out with Alfred's Basic Piano Library books. For children 10 and older, we'll use the Piano Adventures series. As for adults, I generally recommend Alfred's Adult Piano books. For all ages, I always include fun solo songs that cater to each student's interests. This can include Disney songs, pop, rock, jazz, specific song requests, etc. Each student is different and learns differently, so I greatly enjoy being flexible and finding what works best for each individual.
I am so excited by all the positive impacts music can have on a child’s development, and hopes to help grow your children’s confidence and cultivate their talents. The process of learning a musical instrument looks different for each student, and one of my favorite parts of teaching is developing an individualized approach for every child. I aim to instill my same passion for music into children by creating a fun, inspiring, and positive environment. My process absolutely applies when working with adults as well!
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
Are you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
