I believe each of us learn differently; for some students I find that they are very hands on and prefer that I show them how to do something and then allow them to perfect it others I find that they need a little more guidance and need me to go at a slower pace but regardless of the student's learning language I take my time to understand where they are and outline a plan to help them exceed to the next level. In 1998 I became Musical Director of the group Los Tigres, with which I began to develop my compositional and arranging skills.. In 2001 I founded the group SonEra, now performing only my own compositions and arrangements. During this period of time I also developed my teaching career, working as a drum, percussion and piano teacher at Rinkeby Music School, Kulturama and at the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm. I also presented Cuban music workshops all over Sweden. Read More

I make the lessons as inspiring and motivational as possible. I encourage my students to practice and set goals at each lesson. My approach is focused very much on performance, technicalities, and theory. I believe it is very important for the student to understand how these aspects of playing coincide with each other, and how they are equally essential to music playing. Before giving a student a piece of music to play, I will always play it befoehand and dissect the song into portions that I feel need special attention. I encourage playing with other musicians, and always try to teach the art ofimprovisation, so that the students can learn to play not only by themselves, but with other musicians, using the musicial understanding that it takes to improvise. For beginning students I like to find out how much experience they have had in music and find out what they want to get out of these lessons. If they are just starting out I'll start with the basics, how to hold a drumstick, the parts of the drum set, correct posture, etc. I believe that all students regardless of age and level should learn how to read music. My students will not only be learning how to play drums by listening to bands that they like but also by reading drum sheet music and learning basic theory. Read More
