My experience in teaching started on ships when people would approach me from different departments and ask to learn to sing. Most of the people were dancers who wanted to expand their skill sets to get higher paid positions. It soon expanded to the other Vocalists who wanted to expand their range and styles. Particularly in Opera and with their belt range. The methods that I normally use are the Alfred Basic Piano Library, and the Faber and Faber Piano Adventures. I also use technique books such as Fingerpower, Hanon, and Czerny. I always incorporate Music Theory in my lessons as well as improvisation. i am familiar with the Royal Conservatory of Music technical requirements and find them necessary to any student wanting to become proficient at piano/keyboard playing. I use may online worksheets for theory, improvisation and fun repertoire as well. i am open to the needs of the student but also have a structured method of teaching so that all aspects of the music learning process is followed.
