Keeping your voice healthy starts with keeping your entire body healthy. The voice is contained within the body, so following a balanced diet, getting adequate sleep, and reducing stress are all keys to keeping your body and voice healthy. Singers should avoid excess caffeine, smoking, consumption of alcohol and drugs. Excessive screaming, speaking, performing in loud or crowded places without proper amplification, and singing for a prolonged amount of time without rest should all be avoided. Singers should always stay hydrated by drinking purified water, and try to stay away from sugary drinks and colas.
Musika offers one-on-one, in-home singing lessons that are designed specifically for each individual student. Whether your lesson takes place in the studio or at home, students will get the exact same lesson content, with the only difference being the location. Parents will find home singing lessons a much more convenient option for their child, as it saves the time and costs of transporting their children to and from the studio. Younger students will find that learning to sing in the comfort of their own homes greatly benefits their development as they are learning in a supportive, secure and familiar environment.
During singing lessons, students of all abilities will learn and develop safe, effective vocal techniques that can be applied to a multitude of musical genres and styles. Students will learn how to properly warm their voices up by working through various exercises such as sirens, lip rolls and trills and vocalizing various vowel sounds along to different scales. Lessons will cover topics such as vocal physiology and how the voice works so that students understand what a particular exercise achieves. Students will learn how to increase and strengthen their vocal range by learning how to bridge and connect their voices through the vocal break or passagio and into the head voice. Students can also work on their tone and breath support, and start applying these various techniques to singing actual songs. Students will also learn things such as music theory, song interpretation and style development, and can prepare for gigs and auditions.

You can learn how to care for your voice, control your breathing and choose songs that fit your voice. We even prepare you for local performances or reality show auditions. Your singing will improve, and you will feel more confident when you take adult voice lessons.
We recommend beginning Voice lessons at age 11 or 12. The vocal instrument, unlike other instruments, is attached to the body. Starting voice lessons too young, or when the student is not emotionally ready or mature, can lead to vocal damage or straining. Many of our instructors are capable of working with younger students under this age, but it is our opinion, and the opinion of many other Vocal Education professionals, that the student should wait until their body has begun the process of puberty before beginning voice lessons.
