Limit sugar and processed foods. Instead, eat a nutritious diet that-™s loaded with vegetables, fruits and whole grains. Drink plenty of water instead of beverages with caffeine or sugar. You should also stop smoking and limit alcoholic beverages. Daily, try to exercise. It strengthens your lungs and your vocal ability. Then rest. Your body and your voice need time to recuperate quietly as you seek to keep your voice healthy.

Singing lessons will focus on teaching students how to sing with good vocal technique and how to apply these techniques to the art of singing songs. Students will learn exercises and techniques that enable them to sing with a clear, balanced, well-pitched vocal tone, how to support the voice and how to increase their vocal range. Students will learn these techniques through vocalizing vowel sounds on different scales that vary in difficulty, learn how to tilt the thyroid cartilage in order to bridge into the head voice for range extension and how to reduce the use of the extrinsic muscles of the larynx to avoid constriction when ascending in pitch. Students can develop their performance techniques and song interpretation, and learn advanced techniques and exercises such as developing vibrato, rasp/distortion effects, messa di voce and vocal run and fills. Students can also be prepared for auditions, exams and gigs.
Adult voice students want to learn how to sing better. If that describes you, achieve your goal with instruction from experienced Musika instructors. For children who want to learn how to sing, we recommend beginning voice lessons at age 11 or 12. The vocal instrument, unlike other instruments, is attached to the body. Starting voice lessons too young, or when the student is not emotionally ready or mature, can lead to vocal damage or strain. Many of our instructors are capable of working with younger students under the recommended age, but it is our opinion, and the opinion of many other Vocal Education professionals, that the student should wait until their body has begun the process of puberty before beginning voice lessons.
