More Information About Voice Lessons

For a healthy voice, take care of your body. When it-™s healthy, your vocal cords and singing voice are healthy. A balanced diet is the first step to achieving maximum health. Limit sweets, and eat plenty of fresh vegetables, fruit, whole grains and lean protein. You-™ll also want to drink plenty of water instead of other beverages. Regular exercise is the next step toward a healthy voice. Aerobics and other activities strengthen your body and increase your fitness level. Proper rest includes getting enough sleep at night and protecting your voice from overuse. With these tips, you live a healthy lifestyle and keep your voice healthy too.
We offer one on one voice lessons in home for students. This offers a practical way to learn the art of singing. Our teachers customize their lesson plan to work with your needs and goals. Lessons are generally once a week and are tailored around your schedule.
Musika vocal lessons will be based on teaching students good, safe vocal technique that can be applied to a wide range of musical genres and singing styles. Students of all abilities and experience will be catered for, as lessons are devised to suit the requirements of each individual student. Beginner students will work on their pitch, tone and vocal range by doing various different exercises such as sirens, singing different vowels along a scale and learning how to properly support the voice through breath management. These exercises are designed to build strength, timing and coordination in order to traverse the passagio, allowing students to sing notes in their head voice register, thus extending their range. Students can also develop their song interpretation skills, performance techniques and style development. As students advance, they can learn techniques and skills such as messa di voce, runs and fills, vibrato and genre-specific techniques like distortion in Rock singing or covering the voice for Musical Theatre or Classical singing.
Have you always wanted to be a singer? You are never too old to learn how to sing or to become a better singer. Musika offers individualized adult voice lessons geared to your needs. Learn to sing Pop, Jazz or Classical music, or prepare for a national competition like American Idol or X-Factor. Expand your vocal range or learn how to choose songs that compliment your voice. No matter what your musical goals are, our professional instructors are here to help. We train you to become a better singer whether you-™ve just started singing now or have been singing since you were a child.
Before age 11 or 12, a child-™s voice is under development. He or she may want to sing in a local competition or national audition, but the vocal cords are not yet mature enough to handle intense musical training. Lessons for kids should start after they begin puberty, when they are physically and emotionally mature. Otherwise, your child-™s voice could be damaged or strained. To protect your child-™s voice for future musical performances, wait until they start puberty. Then begin voice lessons that train your child for singing competitions, auditions and recreation.
