More Information About Voice Lessons

There are many elements to vocal training, from learning to read music, to breath control techniques and mastering intonation. In beginning singing lessons, most students will learn and develop proper vocal technique which will help them be able to sing in a variety of styles. This multi-faceted approach is at the core of classical vocal training, giving students a well-rounded knowledge of musical techniques. Singing lessons will also allow students to develop their musical and performance skills and give them the confidence they need to audition and perform on stage.
One-on-one vocal lessons straight from the comfort of your own home are a great way to learn to how to sing. 90% of our students choose to take lessons from home, mostly due to the convenience of not having to make travel arrangements both to and from their lessons. This is great for parents and students with busy schedules. The content of home lessons is exactly the same as studio lessons, where students will work on technique and exercises. Home lessons provide the best learning environment, as it is a comfortable, familiar surrounding for students to learn in.
When you want to learn how to become a better singer, you need voice lessons. Musika instructors are trained in every genre and style, including Classical, Country and R&B. We can help you prepare for national auditions or local competitions. You will receive customized lesson plans based on your musical goals and previous experience. As part of your lessons, you will learn how to protect and project your voice. You-™ll learn how to interpret songs, add emotion and read music. Before you audition or perform, we-™ll teach you how to manage stage fright. In addition to these topics, learn: How to enjoy and express yourself with singing, Breath control techniques, Vocal cord protection, Voice projection techniques, Vocal volume improvement, How to read music, Genre and style interpretation, How to add emotion to songs, lyrics and phrases, Performance techniques, including how to cope with stage fright.
Students studying voice for the first time as an adult can look forward to working on vocal exercises and breathing techniques which can help improve their range and tone. Adult students may be interested in studying primarily classical vocal technique, or they may want to focus on different styles like pop or jazz. Our instructors can help you reach your musical and stylistic goals!
We strongly encourage students to start voice lessons at age 11 or 12. Training a voice that is younger than this can sometimes lead to future damage if the teacher is not specifically trained to teach younger students. As soon as a student begins the process of puberty and adolescence this would be a good time to begin vocal training. We also strongly encourage students who are younger than this age to start with another instrument like piano or guitar, because this will help them improve their basic musicianship skills before progressing to voice lessons.
