Music shops that sell violins can usually also work out violin rentals. This is best for smaller, short-scale violins that are designed for small children. For adults, either used or new violins will work just fine. The only factor to keep in mind is that used violins are sometimes sold as-is, meaning it may not be in the best condition. Our earliest recommended starting age for violin is 4, although exceptions can certainly be made for a younger student who is capable of handling the strings properly and who has sufficient strength in the fingers and hands. A teacher can help you decide which size instrument to choose depending on the age and height of your child.
