Back when I was in Venezuela, I was playing in my city's orchestra the entire time from 2002 to 2018. In that orchestra, which is a part of the renowned "El Sistema". El Sistema is a system that helps underserved communities get the music knowledge they would otherwise not be able to get. We had different levels of orchestras, from beginners to advanced. For any student, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements series. This method book will help teach the basic fundamentals needed to progress on the instrument. For children, I will continue through the method book series while supplementing it with short popular pieces that may be of interest to the student. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep it fun and enjoyable. Read More

It is incredibly rewarding to see students developing both a love for and skills in music. Modeling effective practice techniques is high priority during lesson time so that students can make progress at their own pace outside of lesson time as well as in lesson time. To this end, I also provide students with a list of goals and reminders to aid practice between lessons. I find it important to acknowledge student successes is important to building confidence and creating a positive learning experience, in addition to identifying and correcting problems. Read More
