Elisa R

Instruments:

Hello!  I am currently getting my masters at NEC but I love to teach as well.  My main instrument is the viola but I also teach violin.  I started playing the violin at age 10 and switched my focus to viola in 2004.  The majority of my life has been devoted to seeking the best musical education with the goal of becoming a strong violist.  My training is classical but lately I have been branching out to jazz and improvisation.  The sitar is also an instrument that I love and play in my free time.

  More Information About Viola Lessons

Music shops that sell violas can usually also work out viola rentals. This is best for smaller, short-scale viola that are designed for small children. For adults, either used or new violas will work just fine. The only factor to keep in mind is that used violas are sometimes sold as-is, meaning it may not be in the best condition. Our instructors are familiar with good viola maintenance techniques and can be of assistance.
Musika offers customized one-on-one music lessons at your home - a time saving solution for busy parents and students. The convenience of in-home lessons allows you to save time without having to transport your child to class, allows your child to maximize their busy schedule, and provides a safe and familiar environment in which to learn.
Our teachers create a customized lesson plan for every student. Topics covered during Musika's viola lessons may include, but are not limited to: how to hold the viola and bow, different bowing techniques: detache, legato, staccatto, how to read music, learning proper finger placement in first position (and higher positions), musicianship skills to aid in playing in tune, hand and finger stength exercises, developing a natural, tasteful vibrato for sustained notes, and most importantly, learn to have fun playing the viola!
We love adult students! We have adults who are complete beginners, some who haven't played their instrument in 10 years, and some who are more advanced students looking to take their skills to the next level. Our teachers have proven methods to get you the results you desire.
Our earliest recommended starting age for viola is 4, although exceptions can certainly be made for a younger student who is capable of handling the strings properly and who has sufficient strength in the fingers and hands. A teacher can help you decide which size instrument to choose depending on the age and height of your child.
