Bachelor of Music Education
I began my musical journey in Shreveport, Louisiana at the age of 10 when I started taking piano lessons. In Middle School, the piano was replaced with the flute which soon became my greatest passion. By the time I was only 14 years old I was already performing for various festivals and private receptions in the Shreveport area. After High School, I continued my musical career with a music scholarship to Centenary College of Lousiana where I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Instrumental Music Education. In college I studied the flute as well as other instruments such as piano, oboe, and percussion. On flute, I continued to perform all over the town as well as in many of the College ensembles such as the Wind Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, Chamber Winds, and Orchestra. I was also asked to perform with the Shreveport Symphony and travelled across the border to perform with the National Symphony Orchestra of Mexico. I also became a two-time winner of the annual Centenary College Concerto Competition. I then began teaching private lessons while in College. After College, I went on to teach music in public schools. Before coming to Colorado Springs I was a Middle School Band Director in Houston, Texas for 10 years, where I established myself as one of the most dedicated band directors in the district. I continue to play and perform music on flute as well as piano in a variety of settings. I have been teaching flute privately for 2 years since I have been in Colorado.
