I am a motivated instructor who enjoys teaching students of all ages. My experience includes playing from memory works by well known classical composers such as Beethoven, Rachmaninoff, Chopin and Debussy. These recitals were before I graduated. My teachers were impressed that I could play these works from memory. I enjoyed practicing for these recitals. Playing the piano was never considered a job for me because I enjoyed it so much. Anyone who has me for teacher, will certainly do well.
My experience goes back over ten years. I have taught students privately and also from teaching services. Presently, I am teaching piano at a school here in the Miami area. In additionn to that, I have several private students that I teach at my home studio. My students are encouraged to practice everyday. If they are taking lessons because they are interested, it is easier to teach them. If they are coming because their parents want to learn, they are not as inclined to enjoy their lessons.
I usually start with a beginners book for children or adults. We go through the lessons at their own speed. As for practicing the scales, I do not introduce them until the students is thoroughly familiar with the keys (the alphabet of the keys.) For adults I introduce the scales and arpeggios much earlier.
I work with the students at their own speed. They like my style of teaching. Lessons with me do not seem like a chore because I am a teacher who does not get upset with the students .
It is rewarding to teach piano. If a student is really interested in learning, it is such a pleasure. If they are young, I usually use a book that includes cartoons between lessons. For adults I use an adult book, but try to include a solo that they can handle that relates to a season or something they are interested in playing. There are many books on the market. I usually chose one that suits the students personality. They will find working with me is a pleasure. I look forward to new students.
