Overview:
I have been teaching music for many years and I love sharing what I know and approaching music together with someone who has a passion for it. my experience touring and at Berklee College of Music has given me the tools to deepen my knowledge and provide a good learning experience. I am also a certified Yoga and Meditation instructor, therefore, I teach how to connect the body with the instrument and how to develop technique and creativity by incorporating silence and breath. I specialize in Jazz, and have a congruous background of classical music, rock, pop, Latin and folk music. Whatever the student like I will go with that. I sometimes transcribe the music that the student likes for him to play and practice.
EXPERIENCE
I've been teaching since I was young, to my freinds and peers around me, without knowing that was what I was doing, since I've always loved to explain and share what I know and help others reach similar understandings that will help them develop. Before moving to the states back in Israel, I had about 30 saxophone students a year, both private and at a conservatory, I taught groups and single students. I believe teaching is natural for me. I'd like to help you reach your goals with the Saxophone. Weather it's playing for fun, professionally, with others or by yourself. There are many ways to feel joy and satisfaction with this instrument, but it takes time and effort.
METHODS USED
I believe music lessons should be easy going, fun but focused experience, mainly lead by the student's interest, with some teasers and ideas for how they can expand and improve. First thing - is how to help you express yourself and enjoy the instrument and the music that flows from it, and secondly, to encourage and expand your musical perspective to other genres, styles, techniques , to composition, to engage in a musical community and more.. I'm there to expose you to what you don't know and see if you like it and to answer all your questions (hopefully).. then - to play together and have fun! For curriculum I would like to research together with you the book that will fit you the best. After 3-6 months, you will be able to enjoy the instrument more and have the tools to make a choice of what you want to focus in the vast array of musical styles and abilities.
LESSON STYLE
Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. We will work together to find your passion around saxophone.
