I have been playing drums for 14 years and started when I was 10. The influence I had from other drummers that I saw was what sparked my interest in playing them. Seeing the greats like Roger Taylor of Queen, John Bonham of Led Zeppelin, or even now Matt Greiner of August Burns Red, I wanted that, but I knew I couldn't get there without practice. After taking up lessons myself, and I continue to do so even after all those years, I have learned what it takes to be a great drummer. I currently play in a synthpop band.

For beginner students I have a study guide that I go off of that we will talk about at our first meeting. To give a glimpse, I start off by teaching about the rudiments, and I can't stress this enough. Using a metronome is best in all playing. If you want to play drums in a band, or what have you, you have to learn to play with a click. Timing is everything with drums. Students will learn the basic beats while learning how to add in appropriate fills to make what they're playing sound whole and professional. For intermediate students I will assess where they are in their playing and style they want to go for. I will then take that and teach them new ways to get to where they want to go. Being a drummer is a very fun activity, but being a great drummer takes patience and work.
I love teaching, it's what I'm very passionate about and gifted at. I am aware that everyone learns differently, and I will teach accordingly to your needs. To help someone grow in their passion as well, one that we share, is a great reward. With my teaching style you will learn how to play your instrument with pride, passion, and power (The three P's). You will have fun while learning new techniques, and patterns to grow your skill level and passion. You will grow in pride. I can play anything you need or want of me without second thought. You will learn to play the style and songs you love, while learning in a fun and understanding way.
