ABOUT
Degrees / Training / Special Info:

Trinity College of Music ( London ), Piano Performance Certificate Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music ( UK ), Piano Performance Certificate

Overview:
I grew up in the West Indies.  This explains my easy -going, "no problem" attitude. I have performed as a piano soloist  at various venues around the world ( churches, hotels, cruiseships, concert halls ) Despite having had classical piano training via Trinity College of Music and the Royal Schools of Music at an early age, I have always appreciated  music of every genre. So as a child I took the responsibility of learning to play other styles on my own.  It quickly became obvious not only to me but to my fellow classical students that I had a huge advantage over all the other students in the real music world, because I could appeal to a much wider audience.   Over the past 30 years I have stayed true to this concept in all things musical ( including teaching ).  I have performed at many different venues all over the world ( fom hotels to cruiseships,to concert halls.).  I have also taught many students around the world. Not every audience likes the same type of music so the performer has to be versatile.   Similarly, not every student likes the same kind of music so the teacher should be able to adapt.   The same thing applies to teaching methods.   The same method doesn't work with every student. Instead of using existing method books which may or may not contain music that the student can relate to, I like to use the favorite songs of the student.  Once the student makes known his/her request I then create an arrangement of that particular song and tailor it to suit their level ( beginner ,intermediate, advanced ).  This ensures a high level of interest  and motivation on the students part.   For those students who insist on using method books I'm OK with that too ( So the traditionalists are welcome too). I am very familiar with all the major methods including Suzuki,Kodaly,Orff and Dalcroze.  All aspects of musicianship are taught in my class ( sightreading, transposing, theory, technique, memorization, playing by ear etc.)

METHODS USED
Instead of using existing method books which may or may not contain music that the student can relate to, I like to use the favorite songs of the student. LESSON STYLE
My teaching style is based on 3 of my core beliefs. (1) The student is the most important person in the class  ( This is why I do not force  a particular method on every student. I adapt to each student's learning style).  (2) Music should be fun ( This is why I chose music that the student can relate to ) (3) Every task can be easy or difficult.  Every single task has a pattern that, if you know it, makes the task very easy. ( This is why I reveal these patterns to my students and these patterns make them learn easily, naturally and rapidly)(Most of my beginner students learn to play a complete song with both hands in their very first lesson------Why?------PATTERNS ). Having taken 6 years of piano lessons myself when I was young, I am very happy with Osmond teaching my daughter. He is very personable and helping her to enjoy piano. My daughter loves the fun songs she gets to play and I really appreciate how he is integrating even in the first month fingering, chords, beats, and hearing the music. She's getting a very well rounded training and she's loving it!

Mr. Osmond B is amazing. He has a technique that allows the student to start playing a song she recognizes the very first lesson. After a few weeks, the song has progressed and the student gets to pick another song to learn. I would highly recommend him.

Mr. Osmond has had just a few lessons with my four year old and he has demonstrated great patience with him and understanding. My son has a great interest in music but still the attention span you would normally think a four year old has. I can't get over how much he has learned in four classes, five songs and the types of notes and where they are on the piano and more.....my son really enjoys his teaching and looks forward to his lesson every week!!

My son responds to him very well and always looks forward to his lessons with Osmond.

This guy is everything he is advertised to be AND MORE. I am a beginner and I was very pleased to hear myself playing one of my favorite songs (all the way through) after the first lesson.

Mr. Osmond B worked with me to figure out the settings on my new Korg. The one hour session went by quickly and all I had asked for was reached. I would be happy working again with Mr. Osmond B if I run into any future problems when it comes time to record my songs. Thanks Again to Musika AND Mr. Osmond B. Bob G.
