Overview:
I find great satisfaction and enjoyment working with music students of all ages and ability levels. The reward comes from seeing the development of a student to the point where they are accomplishing wonderful things with their musical ability. I graduated from BYU in 1989, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music Education. I have been fortunate to perform with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and the Minnesota Mormon Chorale. I continue to play as often as possible, keeping my skills sharp and maintaining my passion for the music environment. One area of instruction that I specialize in would be working with Special Needs students in their musical development.
EXPERIENCE
I work individually with students of all playing abilities. I instruct kids with special needs, as well as mainstream students and adults. My lessons include learning to read music, along with understanding proper tone and pitch. I am comfortable teaching the flute, clarinet and saxophone, as well as percussion instruments.January 1990 to present: Private Music Teacher Las Vegas, NV and Minneapolis, MN Personal Lesson Provider My responsibilities with this position include providing entry level lessons for beginning players. I also teach note-reading and proper fingering for each instrument. I also focus on tone and pitch. I have also worked with accomplished players in preparation for their professional careers. I am able to correct dropped notes, fingerings and ombuture.
METHODS USED
I am comfortable working with students of all ages and ability levels, from beginners to accomplished players. I do not change my method of teaching, utilizing the Hal Leonards Essential Elements, Suzuki and Dalcroze methods. These varied styles allow for proper instruction from the inital sessions through the point of quality performance.
LESSON STYLE
It is tremendously rewarding to work with a student and listen to the improvement they make from 1 session to the next. It is apparent when they are grasping the proper playing techniques and seem to be increasing their understanding of the music performances.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
