I'm a passionate teacher who loves teaching. I started playing the violin in 6th grade and played in the school orchestra throughout high school. I started playing guitar for a senior project in high school and fell in love with the instrument. I immediatley went to college for guitar where i graduated in December of 2014 from Methodist University.
My teaching experience started in my sophmore year of college teaching private lessons in the students home. I feel that the student should have fun in lessons and look forward to them or I'm not doing my job. I want the student to be able to learn the material they want to as well as developing the whole spectrum the guitar has to offer.
For beginning students I usually start with basic chord formation to get them into playing songs as soon as possible so they dont get bored with the basics. Then I move onto movable chords, scales, and music theory. Once they get to more advanced techniques I will give them simple exercises and the songs they choose to learn will put them into context.
It is important for the studen to learn at their own pace and to set realistic goals each time they practice. I can adjust the order that i teach some of the basics to fit the students interest. By learning what interests the student i can adjust my lesson plan and adjust instruction to fit the students wants and needs.
