Overview:
I worked various summer jobs and saved up to get my first guitar when I was 12 years old.  My friends and I started a band during the first week of middle school and I've always played in a band of some sort since that day.  In 2004 I graduated from Drexel University with a Bachelor of Science in Music Industry.  Since then I've been teaching guitar for over 10 years while releasing a number of internationally distributed albums and touring the world.
EXPERIENCE
I began teaching guitar towards the end of my college curriculum when the guitar instructors at my university informed me they needed more teachers at their outside studios.  I've consistently been teaching students both in private studios as well as in their homes for the last 10+ years.  My students have ranged between all ages and levels of ability from beginner to advanced.  If a student is not having fun and feeling a sense of accomplishment then we are doing it wrong!
METHODS USED
As a beginner, nothing is more satisfying than being able to play recognizable tunes as soon as possible.  I typically lay out a patterned tier of simple and well known musical phrases for a student to gain initial confidence with while introducing basic performance principles.  Once the the fundamentals of playing are beginning to click, we will start to customize our approach based on the student's particular goals.  Not to worry, many students have a loose idea of what they are striving for at first and their curriculum develops naturally as they master certain skills and knowledge.  Every student gets their own unique curriculum based on their interests and goals.
LESSON STYLE
The number one question I asked my students is "what have you been listening to lately?"  I find it very important to incorporate a students musical taste into the instruction.  If we can gain the same musical progress working on a song they've never heard of, vs. something from one of their favorite bands...well, we are going to play the song they like.  Every lesson will end with a new and realistic goal, and ultimately we will be working on giving the student the tools to be facilitate their own advancement.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
