Overview:
I am an enthusiastic music lover and a very patient teacher. I believe that music is one of the liberal arts that can complete a person. It is an intimate way to express oneself. My Bachelor degree specialized in music education, and I volunteered to teach all kind of students in rural cities in Taiwan. To enhance my teaching skill, I am always looking for new ways to explain the concept. In addition, I gave solo recitals, chamber recitals, worked with big ensembles. These experiences made me have a better understanding of the relationship between music and people.
EXPERIENCE
I started to teach group music class and private lesson when I was in undergraduate. I always try to bring everything I learned from performance, music education, observing other music teacher and my own experience to every music lesson I gave. Practicing consistently is the most important way to make the lesson experience more pleasant and worthwhile. Other than introducing the music to my students, I also encourage them to perform, because sharing music is also part of the learning process. I am also experienced in preparing students for ABRSM and RCM development program.
METHODS USED
Orff and Kodály are the requirements throughout my college study, which I integrated into my teaching and found it helpful for developing students' sense of music. I am familiar with the major piano teaching system, including Faber, Bastien, Alfred and Baker. I evaluated the student's instinct on the piano at the first lesson to decide which material is good for them. I will encourage them to find the music they want to play, more importantly, I will adjust the music to their level so they can enjoy it more.
LESSON STYLE
I break down the overall goal to a small step that is doable for the student. I am nice and patient with students, meanwhile, I insist on they accomplishing my instruction. It is fine if it takes several tries, but most importantly is that they had to try. Practicing is a way to learn from the mistake and how to avoid it. Practicing also teaches us how to be patient and doing it efficiently leading to success. So patient and persistent is the best description for my teaching. It is recommended for parents to sit in the lesson, so they have an idea what the student need to practice and how. This is especially crucial for younger kids.

After moving from NY and parting from our amazing piano instructor, we thought we couldn't find a piano teacher close to what we knew. We are happy to say Musika matched us up with someone professional and friendly who enjoys teaching younger students. Thank you! We definitely recommend Kuan as a piano instructor :)

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
