Overview:
I am a highly motivated and enthusiastic instructor who loves giving people of all ages the gift of playing and performing music. I graduated from the State University of New York at Albany with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Jazz Guitar Performance in 2010. Music has been the biggest positive influence in my life and I have not been able to put the guitar down since I was 12 years old and first started to play. I am a working musician and you can usually find me gigging around the Tri-State Area with my band or with other various acts. If I am not gigging I am usually recording in my studio.
EXPERIENCE
I've been teaching since graduating high school part but I've been teaching consistently for the last 5 years since graduating college. I am always exploring different genres, techniques, and ideas of what music is, which has made me a good all around musician. I am a big fan of making things fun because music to me is fun to play. If the student is not having fun then I am not doing my job correctly. There does however need to be consistent practice in order for someone to progress with the instrument. I find a combination of modern, jazz, and classical music can go a long way in helping students enjoy music and motivate them to practice and continue to learn. My students are encouraged to enter competitions, recitals, and college auditions, as well as composing their own material. This way they can feel good about their progress and stay motivated to continue learning. I am always looking to bring on new students regardless of skill level.
METHODS USED
For beginning students, I typically start with the Hal Leonard Method Books. Once the student can get the basics down I start with basic rock and pop tunes, or whatever music the student happens to be interested in. For intermediate or advanced players, I try to gage where the student wants to go with the instrument and try to help them any way I can with theory or performance. I try to keep the student engaged and having fun no matter what but at the same time becoming a better musician.
LESSON STYLE
My teaching style really depends on the student taking the lessons. It's important to set realistic goals each week for students that way they can progress at his or her own pace. Recognizing accomplishments goes a long way to fuel a student's desire to progress and makes the student coming back to learn more. By finding out what inspires the student to play, I can tailor my methods to their own wants and needs.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
