METHODS USED

I incorporate piano methods and teaching techniques from the traditions of Leschetizky, Hofmann, the Lhevinnes, and Adele Marcus.

LESSON STYLE

My lessons are tailored to the individual student and his or her personality and goals.  My approach involves proper use of the body position and weight to obtain maximum technique and sound.  I emphasize areas that need to be developed, especially involving the use of the arm and wrist.  I encourage relaxation and proper breathing so the pianist is prepared to meet technical challenges.  Musicality is emphasized to the highest degree, and I teach students to make sense of the music on the page, instead of simply looking at notes.  Together, we develop musical intelligence.
