Overview:
I am a graudate of Heidelberg University, emphaisis in percussion and also stuided piano, keyboard and voice throughout grade school, high school and college. I am, and also been active with the Girard Community Swing, Dixie, and Concert Bands (2001 to Present); Girard High School Marching, Concert and Pep Bands (1981-1986); Heidelberg University Concert, Marching and Pep Bands (1986-1991); Warren Junior Military Band (1982-1985).   I enjoy sharing my tallents with students both children and adults who have a high interest in learning about music.  Techniques used are as follows:  Piano/Keyboard, basic knowledge of scales, note identifcation and correct finger positioning and usgae.  Drum instruction includes learning the 26 standard drum rudiments.  A must to learn proper drum playing, whether on snare drum, drumset or even axulliary perucssion instruments.  Voice techniques include proper breathing, various exercises and if ok with the student, I encourage their lessons to be recorded for better practice and training purposes.   I have been interested in music since I was very young.  At age 6 I performed my first song on the family piano from a recording, only heard by ear and a few minutes after listening to it carefully.  I have also worked with music in conjunction with computers using MIDI technology and have composed my own original songs; re-arranged public domain songs and produced audio CDs using all the technology combined right in my own studio.
EXPERIENCE
My teaching experience started the last year of attending Heidelberg University when I was required to instruct a high school student drum lessons as part of my internship.  After graduation in 1991 I had my first vocal student in my home.  In 1995 is when I had my first experience teaching in a music store environment.  The store was known as Howland's Music World and was there until 1997.  In 1997 during my last few months at Howland's Music World, I was hired at Hubbard Music as voice instructor and piano instructor and worked there till 2000.  Another experience in my teaching background is instructing music to disabled children and young adults. Music Center and Liberty Lesson Center are two other locations I have taught music as well.  Liberty Lesson Center was from 2009 to 2011, then 2013 to 2014.  Music Center was from 2011 to 2013.
METHODS USED
As mentioned my teaching methods are as follows.   Beginners in Piano - Scales, proper fingering positions and usage, posture and accurate knowledge of reading music. Beginners in Drums - Proper usage of drumsticks, demonstrate the two postions of holding the drumstick, knowledge of basic rhythm patterns, proper height and angle of drum or practice pad, and most importantly, the study of the 26 standard drum rudiments for proper playing developiment.   Vocal Techniques:  Proper breathing support, demonstrating the difference between using the breath and using the throat when singing, encourage student to record their lessons for accurate practice and knowledge of hearing themselves sing, (approved by student's preference).  Correct pronounciation of words for various types of songs styles such as classical, pop, folk and more.
LESSON STYLE
Enourage all studnets that music can be a way of expressing themselves Encouraging students that they have a gifted talent of music, even if they do not think they do themselves Great oppportunity to expand their knowledge and be open more socially to the public Encourages them and helps them to understand that anything is possible when you set your mind to it.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
