Overview:

Hi! I am an experienced and serious cellist and teacher. I have a great passion for music and for teaching music as well. I am interested in helping cellists of all levels to achieve their artistic and musical aspirations and goals. Studying music has helped me to be disciplined, focused, and determined person and I believe that I can help students develop these same traits. I have travelled around the world playing and teaching, and I'm excited to meet prospective cello students in this area.

EXPERIENCE

I've been teaching for about 6 years now privately.  I've worked with beginners as well as more advanced students.  I have also worked for a school, teaching elementary to middle school students one on and one.  I also have experience teaching orchestrah sectionals.  

METHODS USED

For all of my students I try to encourage good basic technique and practicing scales and etudes.  I believe in a healthy mix of technique and artistic expression. I also try to help students use their bodies in the most efficient way possible.  I help students to create good habits and work to fix bad habits.

LESSON STYLE

Usually in my lessons I like to hear the student play something from start to finish just so I can listen and take in what exactly a student's strengths and weaknesses are.  Encouraging strengths, and praising accomplishments, is a great way to help a student to progress.  I try not to dwell on mistakes or weaknesses but try to demonstrate or push the student in the right direction.
