Overview:
I have received professional education at The Sibelius Academy for teaching private music lessons. I like to teach students as individuals and create a practice program for them according to their personal goals. I am supportive and patient and want to help each student to find their own highest potential. I welcome all ages and levels to my instrument lessons. I think that both the process of learning and the end goal are important. I like to balance musical enjoyment and technical training in my teaching method. I like to see the students making new musical and technical discoveries each week. I encourage them to set goals such as performing in quarterly student recitals and to consider taking part in a Syllabus program that has advancing yearly goals. I use the Suzuki method especially with the younger students and encourage parents to become effective home teachers through coaching and printed materials.
EXPERIENCE
I have a long time teaching experience. In the past I have been teaching at Palo Alto, CA school district, Gorin School of Music, CA Marylhurst University Suzuki Violin program, OR, Alliance Charter Academy, OR and Lewis & Clark College, OR. Nowadays I am exclusively teaching at Oregon City Music Academy, OR. I have years experience in teaching various ages and levels. I accept students as young as 3 yrs old and teach also grown ups. I teach school children and teenagers having more serious musical goals in mind. Some of my students are already studying privately with me for a teaching profession.
METHODS USED
I give Suzuki violin, viola and cello lessons. I also use classical method with scales, etudes and solo pieces in my teaching as another option. With fiddle students I use Ann Wheeler method books. My piano students use Faber piano series. My Guitar students use Hal Leonard guitar method and guitar song collections. Ukulele students start with Alfred's ukulele method and more advanced students use Greg Horne and Shana Aisenberg Books 1-3. I like to expand my student's musical repertoire based on their own favorite musical selections.
LESSON STYLE
Each student is their own personality and I enjoy seeing how the music making unfolds with them in the process of learning. Each student gets their own unique weekly practice program based on their age and level. I am encouraging and patient teacher. I also see to it that my students get to their own goals by time. I want to make sure that my students have a firm foundation that holds when students advance further in their studies. I like to see that learning stays interesting and fun for my students and they get more and more skilled at playing their instruments and enjoy more and more making music!

We've only had a few lessons with Elisa, but so far we really like her. She has a lot of great suggestions for solo pieces as well as orchestral music that involves all 3 of my boys, while also including some Christian music that we can play at church. She is very patient in explaining the lessons and encouraging!

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
