Overview:
I was a navy musician for 14 years and was with the navy band northeast in Newport, Rhode Island then with the US Naval Forces Europe Band.  Had a chance to perform in 28 countries between Europe and Africa including Russia, Italy, France, Greece, Nigeria and Gabon.  After four years of living in Italy, the navy moved me to Navy Band Great Lakes in Illinois.  Been a featured euphonium or trombone soloist in all three bands.  Currently I am working on a doctoral degree at the Hartt School of Music in West Hartford, CT.  I teach Trumpet, Trombone and Euphonium and play in various venues as a freelance musician.  Played with several Jazz ensembles and local symphony orchestras and the Chicago Brass Band.  I am very passionate and motivated to share with students my knowledge in music as a brass player.
EXPERIENCE
My teaching experience has been with trumpet, trombone and euphonium players as a private instructor.  Before joining the navy music program I taught band at a private school in New Jersey called the Netherlands Reformed Christian School.  Also taught at a store "Music Den" in Roxbury Twp., NJ from 1998 to 2002 for four years. While in the navy as a musician I taught private lessons to students interested in playing a brass instrument. I also teach at a summer camp in Suffield, CT and participated the last two summers. I currently teach private lessons and am working on a Doctoral degree at the Hartt School.
METHODS USED
For complete beginners I use the usual method books used in the public schools.  As I get to know the student I tailor the lessons to their skill level and personality to teach the fundamentals.  More intermediate students I look at what they do well and areas they need to work on such as embouchure or breathing technique.  I teach theary and make sure the student learns how to read music.  More advanced students I will teach repertoire and advanced books such as Arban's Mehod book.  I will always make sure the fundamentals are taught regardless of the skill level.
LESSON STYLE
I always go at the pace a student can handle.  I do try to challenge them but also know that everybody learns differently and at different rates.  I am very flexible.  I hope to motivate the student to trying their best and put their best efforts!  It is very rewarding when a student develops a passion for music!  My goals are always to motivate my students to be the best they can. I always acknowledge the accomplishments a student achieves in their musical journey. I keep things positive and make the lesson a positive experience.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
