Overview:

I'm a lifelong musician, and have been playing piano for 25 years and violin, guitar, and double bass for over 15 years. I taught K-12 band, orchestra, choir, and general music. I was a guitar songleader a camp for 7 summers. I played in orchestras and jazz bands through high school and college. I also play cocktail piano and campfire guitar for weddings and events. 

EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching students for over 10 years. In addition to piano, guitar, violin, and double bass private lessons, I have also taught group lessons. I taught a group piano lab for 5th graders. I taught group guitar lessons to camp students. I have been a member of two private lessons instutions who help me find private students on all instruments so that I can travel to students homes or have them come to my home studio.

METHODS USED

I generally use Alfred for piano, both the children's and adult's versions. I use Hal Leonard for guitar. For both violin and double bass, I generally use either Belwin or Essential Elements. However, some students prefer to not use a method book at all and that is fine. Also, some have different method books they like, which is also fine.

LESSON STYLE

I love transfering my love of music to students. I help them achieve their goals at a challenging, yet doable pace. When parts of the music are too difficult, I always break them down into their simplest possible parts. I am not strict, however I am realistic, and let students know that it is critical that they practice so that they can improve.
