Dan M is a freelance musician and private lesson instructor in the Chicago area. As an active musician, he has performed on trombone, and euphonium in many musical groups ranging form wind ensembles and orchestras to brass quintets and other chamber groups. Dan M was also a member of the Flatirons Brass Quintet at the University of Colorado, which toured to Beijing, China in May of 2011, and placed in the semi-finals of the internationally known Fischoff Chamber Music Competition in May of 2012.
EXPERIENCE
I have been a band director for several years teaching elementary, middle school and high school students. I also have experience teaching some private lessons at the college level. As a teacher, I have been teaching students of a wide range of ages and abilities since 2008. I have taught ages of elementary school through adult, and I have found that fundamentals are the key to success at every age. Through quickly identifying strengths and weaknesses, and catering to ambitions and desires, my students experience a fun and inspirational learning environment.
METHODS USED
Building a solid method approach for every student is essential to the students success. I choose a custom approach for each student, because each student is unique. There are many overlaps to my approach for each students lesson plan, however every lesson needs to be altered a little, since some students struggle in areas where others might succeed. Fundamentals are the foundation for successful music making, and thus are the foundation of the lessons I teach. I have worked with many different method books and do not have a single preferred book, rather each student may need something different depending on their strengths and areas that need improvement.
LESSON STYLE
I have a passion for teaching music! It is so rewarding to watch others grow and develop not only as musicians, but as people. In my studio, students learn in a fun and challenging environment that leads to rapid musical growth. I use aural and visual teaching methods, along with demonstration and imagination, to create a holistic approach to teaching that all students can grasp. In my instruction I try to be balanced in music selection. It is important to play fun songs, but fundamentals are also important to build.

Dan is a remarkable music that is highly dedicated to his craft, while patient and very kind. Having gone to school with Dan for many years and working with him professionally I have gained a great understanding of his abilities. It is without hesitation that I would recommend him as a private lesson teacher.

Dan has taught lessons for 10 years and gives specific helpful feedback. His ensemble experiences with Wheaton Municipal and Colorado University make him an extremely strong musician. I would recommend him to any advanced brass student. His energy would also be well served to younger students.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
