Overview:
Caitlin started playing clarinet when she was in 5th grade and began taking private lessons in 6th grade. In 2008 Caitlin graduated from the DePaul University School of Music in Chicago with a bachelor's degree in clarinet performance "summa cum laude"; while there she studied with Julie DeRoche and other members of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. At DePaul she also played in the Wind Symphony (Band), Chamber Orchestra, and was in several chamber ensembles including a Clarinet Quartet, Clarinet Trio, Woodwind Quintet, and Violin/Clarinet/Piano Trio. Growing up, Caitlin was a member of the McHenry County Youth Orchestra and the Elgin Youth Symphony Orchestra and has also been in marching band, pep band, and pit orchestra and participated in solo/ensemble contests and IMEA. From July 2008 to August 2010 Caitlin tested clarinets at Conn-Selmer, Inc. where she utilized performance and repair skills to improve upon both student and professional clarinet design and quality. Caitlin lives in Norridge, Illinois and typically teach lessons in her home which is walking distance from Ridgewood High School.
EXPERIENCE
For the past nine years Caitlin has maintained a clarinet studio comprised of beginning, intermediate, and advanced students. She guides her students as they develop skills in embouchure, tone production, articulation, and technique which are applied to standard repertoire.
