Overview:
I'm a full-time musician, writer and producer in Nashville; however I love teaching music so I fit in lessons whenever I can!  In 2013 I graduated at the top of my class from Berklee College of Music with Bachelor of Music degree, double majoring in Music Production & Engineering and Contemporary Writing & Production and minoring in Writing for TV & New Media.  I moved to Nashville in early 2014 and I've been performing, writing and producing full time ever since.  I've been playing guitar, bass and piano for over 10 years, and although I'm primarily a bassist, I'm able to teach a wide range of students on any of my 3 instruments.  In 2014 I played over 250 shows in over 50 different cities, and I had the privilage of playing with artists such as Gavin DeGraw, Eric Paslay, Big Smo, John Corbett and many more.
EXPERIENCE
I began teaching lessons 8 years ago when I was 16.  I was heavily involved in my church's music program and I began with a few students who were fairly young.  By the time I was 18, I was teaching over 15 lessons a week to students ranging from 4 to 45 years old.  During my college years I was in school full-time, so I taught a small number of students on and off; however the experience I gained at Berklee significant increased the quality of education I'm able to give a student.  In college I extensively studied music theory, music technology, composition and arranging as well as performance techniques of electric and acoustic bass.  For the past year most of my work has come from performing with artists and bands in Nashville, and although I've played many different instruments professionally, I've had the most experience playing electric bass.
METHODS USED
Because I teach only part-time, I have a limited number of students so I'm able to create custom lesson plans for each individual.  My goal for a first meeting with any student is to get to know the student.  I want to know what music the student is into, what they want to focus on, why they're taking lessons and what their goals are.  From there I can create a lesson plan that is a productive balance of fun, intriguing, challenging and fulfiling.  I've found that the right combination of these elements almost always generates success for any student, beginning to advanced.  I also feel that it's important for a student to have a strong understanding of music theory, because in the long run it will dramatically improve their proficiency on their instrument, and their overall understanding of music.
LESSON STYLE
I've always found that my students who seem to have the most fun are the ones who progress the fastest, so my primary method is to approach lessons with material that students are interested in.  I try to keep things fun and interesting by doing things such as incorporating a student's favorite music into a lesson.  It's important for a student to practice regularly with discipline and focus.  However based on my experience, nothing propels a student forward faster than the happiness and satisfaction gained from 'nailing' a new lick or figuring out a cool new trick.  Practice leads to progress leads to satisfaction leads to more practice leads to progress, etc!  And at the end of the day, facilitating this experience for a student is what fulfills me.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
