Overview:
I am passionate about introducing music to young students as well as opening new doors to more experienced players. After studying Piano Performance at Biola University I went on the road as the guitar player for the rock band Fastball. I spent the next 12 years touring and recording in bands, honing my craft as a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and producer. In addition to teaching piano and guitar I now compose for television and film out of my home studio in North Hollywood, CA.
EXPERIENCE
I began teaching piano in high school and continued into my college years. I then spent the next decade touring in bands and recording in some of the top studios in Los Angeles. I have worked with some of the best in the business including Rick Rubin, John Shanks, and Jason Falkner, just to name a few. These experiences have given me the knowledge of being a musician in the real world, which I try and impart to my students. 
METHODS USED
For younger, beginning students I start with the basic fundamentals of music while keeping it interesting with games or quick melodic exercises that can be easily grasped. Too much music theory can be overwhelming and boring to a new student so I focus on the fun side of music first. For the more experienced or older student, I typically craft the lessons based on their goals, while providing concrete ways in which they can achieve them with hard work and practice.
LESSON STYLE
Every student has his own needs and goals. I am passionate about finding what inspires them and focusing the lessons on that inspiration. Music should be a fun experience at any age and I am committed to sharing my love of music and the joy of learning an instrument to my students. By setting realistic goals and steady encouragement, I can help my students navigate through their musical journey.
