Berklee College of Music

Berklee BEST Scholarship

Berklee Percussion Scholarship

Overview:
Hi, I am a graduate of the Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA, and have been teaching drums, piano, and percussion for over 12 years.  I focus on the fundamentals of teaching students how to read music and the rudiments, but try to balance this with just playing and having fun.  I want all of my students to have fun, and stay interested in playing and growing as a musician. In addition to teaching, I also spend much of my professional time performing in and around Boston, the greater New England area, and all over the country!!!
EXPERIENCE
Berklee College of Music graduate, Aaron M., has been teachings students of all ages for over 18 years. "I love watching young musicians grow into seasoned players and have had tremendous success with all my students. I believe that learning songs and playing music is a critical element in the learning process of becoming a good musician. This is why I bring a powered PA speaker, mp3 player, and (sometimes) a guitar to my lessons for the student to play along with and learn familiar songs. Over the years I've learned to strike a balance between Reading/Rudiments and Playing/having fun, so as to maintain students interests and growth." *** Lesson Details *** Music lessons in the comfort of your home! METHODS USED
It really depends on needs and desires of student!  I create custom lesson plans for each student depending on their current ability level, age, and future goals. For drums -topics include: various Snare books to teach students sight reading basics while focusing on technique, transcriptions of drum grooves and solos, learning and playing along to recordings, etc.  For Piano, I combine a traditional note reading approach/music theory with the "by ear" Suzuki Method.   I have great success with this!
LESSON STYLE
Generally layed back low pressure lessons, but I will push a student if they let me. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs..

Aaron is the perfect piano teacher for my 7-year-old son. Aaron is patient, super-nice, and very knowledgeable. He is combining the Suzuki method with traditional piano lessons, and it's been great! We highly recommend Aaron.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm.
